Construction site status (from press release documents)

Kumagai Gumi has developed environmentally friendly semi-prefabricated (PCa) flooring, in compliance with the Housing Quality Assurance Promotion Act. By replacing some of the cement used with pulverized blast furnace slag powder, we have achieved a lower carbon footprint with quality comparable to current products. This will reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 19% compared to current levels. It also helps conserve natural resources and reduce waste.

The environmentally friendly half-PCa flooring was developed in cooperation with Asahi Danke (Asahikawa City, Hokkaido, President: Hirozumi Yamashita), a company that produces and sells concrete products for civil and construction works . We aim to reduce carbon emissions by introducing environmentally friendly concrete production technology by replacing part of the cement that makes up the used concrete with pulverized blast furnace slag. The concrete is mixed with the intention of reducing its environmental impact while meeting the level 3 degradation rating of the Housing Quality Assurance Act.

Test construction is also conducted on the actual production line. The results of comparison with current products confirmed that the quality is equivalent to current products.

Kumagai Gumi will actively recommend and apply environmentally friendly half PCa flooring. It is primarily aimed at high-rise and mid-rise apartments, and we plan to actively apply it to our properties in the near future. In the future, to expand the scope of application, we will develop various PCa ingredients, consider further reducing CO2 and achieve environmental labels to meet social needs.
