In April 2025, Kindai University will be the first in Japan to offer “interactive courses” through e-learning in the Faculty of Architecture. We have prepared a program that allows you to qualify for the first-class architect exam and provide periodic retraining for unskilled workers in the construction industry and adults working in sales. The idea is that by allowing anyone who qualifies for the architect exam without requiring an entrance exam, the school will nurture professionals and help secure human resources for the industry. Enrollment will begin in January 2025.

The new program will be the ``Kinki University Faculty of Architecture Online Bachelor's Program.'' Enrollment is expected to be 100 first-year students and 500 third-year transfer students.

Kindai University established its corresponding education department in 1957, ahead of other universities. Leveraging the online learning know-how cultivated at the Faculty of Law and the College, the Faculty of Architecture will also develop high-quality classes tailored to the needs. We are creating new educational videos by leveraging our knowledge of on-demand education, which has become popular due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The program includes e-learning, where students study daily using textbooks and materials on demand, as well as study sessions (interview classes), where students practice drawing and designing models every two to three months. E-learning allows students to study at home at a time that suits their lifestyle. The on-demand teaching materials consist of three parts for each lesson, and if you answer all the questions correctly, you can move on to the next lesson. In addition to schools in Osaka, Tokyo, and Fukuoka that allow in-person learning, students can also take classes online, allowing them to graduate without having to go to school.
Professor Kentaro Yamaguchi of the Faculty of Architecture said, ``There is a strong impression that students have to continue studying alone in correspondence courses, but I hope that students will use the school as a place to communicate.'' Lecturer Tsuyoshi Uotani said, ``The great advantage of face-to-face classes in correspondence courses is that students of various ages and professions can gather and discuss.''
By the time of graduation, first-year students have accumulated 124 credits in four years, including specialized subjects, foreign languages, and general subjects, while third-year transfer students have accumulated a total of about 66 credits in two years, mainly specialized subjects. subjects. All students take a graduation seminar in their fourth year. To be eligible to take the first-class architect exam, students must have achieved at least 60 credits in designated subjects.
Students can freely use state-of-the-art facilities such as the academic theater at the Higashiosaka Campus (Higashiosaka City, Osaka Prefecture), as well as libraries at each campus. Web services such as Microsoft Office are also available. Taketoshi Wakabayashi, executive director of the Student Correspondence Education Center, emphasized that ``The strength of Kinki University is that we can provide modern facilities and services to maintain motivation for learning.''
Tuition is 1,254,000 yen (four years) for first-year students, equivalent to one-fifth of the regular course, and 682,000 yen (two years) for third-year transfer students. Even if you are unable to complete your studies before the fourth year, you can continue studying at your own pace from the following year onwards by paying an annual enrollment renewal fee of 30,000 yen.
Kindai University will hold online admission information sessions on November 6, 17, and 30.
