Uchimiya Resort (Edogawa Ward, Tokyo) will open an off-grid hotel "ZUMI TERRACE Uchinamiya Resort Miyakojima" in Miyakojima City, Okinawa Prefecture, which will be self-sufficient with solar power generation and storage batteries on April 1.
It consists of 13 buildings, of which 12 are guest rooms. Each building is equipped with a solar panel with an output of 9.36 kW, a power conditioner (PCS) with an output of 5.5 kW, and a storage battery with an output of 5 kW and a capacity of 13.5 kWh. The total output of solar panels is 121.7 kW, the total output of PCS is 71.5 kW, and the total capacity of storage batteries is 175.5 kWh.
The solar panels are made by Hanwha Q CELLS in South Korea, the PCS is made by Omron, and the storage battery is made by Tesla in the US "TESLA Powerwall". In addition, it is equipped with an electric vehicle (EV) "Nissan Leaf" and Nichicon's V2H (charging and discharging between EV and building) system for accommodation plans with rental cars.
Annual power generation is expected to be 133 MWh, and power storage is expected to be 64 MWh. Annual power consumption is expected to be 128 MWh (building demand 97 MWh, EV demand 26 MWh, charge/discharge loss 5 MWh), and all electricity in the guest rooms can be covered by solar power generation and storage batteries throughout the year (excluding the barrel sauna).
Even if the solar equipment does not generate power due to a typhoon or other disaster, it is possible to supply electricity for about 3 to 4 days with the power transmission from the storage battery and EV under normal use. In addition, it is connected to the power system for BCP (Business Continuity Plan) measures as an accommodation business.
