KEPCO AND JFE STEEL JOINTLY LOOK AT THERMAL POWER PLANTS AND CCS/DECARBONIZE STEEL

Kansai Electric Power Company announced on the 19th that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with JFE Steel to jointly consider cooperating in the CCS (carbon dioxide capture and storage) business. After collecting and liquefying the carbon dioxide (CO2) emitted from KEPCO's thermal power plants and JFE Steel's steel mills, it is transported by ship to storage locations such as oil and gas fields and aquifers. Water has been depleted in Japan and abroad, and is stored underground. . The two sides will jointly investigate the technical requirements and costs related to ship transportation, CO2 receiving terminal and CO2 pumping.
