The “Kensetsu Komachi – Team Ai,” a group made up primarily of female engineers from the Aichi National Highway Office and construction-related companies involved in its projects, met with students at Aichi Institute of Technology on 19 November. Nine members visited the Yagusa Campus to answer questions and concerns from students preparing for future employment.

Thirteen second- and third-year students from the Department of Civil and Social Infrastructure participated. Team Ai members—representing public-sector engineers, general contractors, and construction consultants—responded to a wide range of candid questions, including:

    • the connection between public service and road work,

    • what construction consultants actually do,

    • salary differences between government and general contractors,

    • and whether unpaid overtime exists.

Members also advised students to visit as many companies as possible because working conditions, salaries, and benefits can vary significantly even within the same industry.
