Keiyo Gas and its real estate subsidiary Keiyo Gas Fudosan have established KG Solar 1 LLC (August 8, 2025) to develop a portfolio of around 50 low-voltage solar power plants in the Kanto region, with a total capacity of approximately 5MWDC, for a power purchase agreement (PPA) with TG Octopus Energy.

According to the announcement on October 2, 2025, TG Octopus Energy will use both the generated electricity and associated non-fossil certificates for its retail supply business.

The first 10 plants, including the 105kWDC Sakura Power Plant in Inashiki City (Ibaraki Prefecture) and the 77kW Kamihinata Power Plant in Kanuma City (Tochigi Prefecture), began commercial operations on September 30, 2025. A final completion date for the full 5MW portfolio has not yet been disclosed.

HSK, a group company of TG Octopus Energy, is responsible for development, EPC (engineering, procurement, and construction), and O&M (operation and maintenance).

This project is part of Keiyo Gas’s broader expansion into renewables in Japan and overseas. According to METI’s FIT/FIP certification data, Keiyo Gas affiliates—including Keiyo Gas Energy Solution and KGSV Renewable Energy—own more than 35 renewable plants (mainly solar and small hydro) totaling over 35MW.

Before the TG Octopus Energy deal, Keiyo Gas also partnered with TN Cross (a joint venture between NTT and TEPCO Holdings) to supply PPAs for public facilities in several municipalities.

For TG Octopus Energy—a joint venture between Tokyo Gas and UK-based Octopus Energy launched in 2021—the partnership strengthens its renewable procurement. The company already has a three-year PPA for 280 GWh of hydropower annually from Gunma Prefecture-owned assets and recently teamed up with Token Corporation to provide residential PPAs for its tenants.
