Kagawa Prefecture will begin reconstruction of the north building of the prefectural government building (4-1-10 Bancho, Takamatsu City), which has not yet completed its earthquake resistance. It is assessed that construction of a similar scale would be difficult at the current location due to the condition of the site and underground works. In addition to the construction of a smaller-scale building, it is expected that some functions will be moved to the main building and the east building on the same site, and new facilities will be built on the site. Unused land of the nearby provincial nursing school.
The current North Building is a reinforced concrete building with 1 basement and 4 floors, total area of 6,851 square meters. It was completed in 1966. It will include conference rooms, shops, etc., and in addition to measures to ensure its functionality, will also consider how to dismantle the existing facility as well as the flow of people and vehicles during demolition. In 2024, these policies will be compiled into a basic plan. The old nursing school is located at Bancho 5, Takamatsu City. The land area is 967 square meters.
This is part of an effort to make the province's facilities earthquake-proof, staffed full-time and regularly used by residents of the province. In addition, the prefectural Livestock Experiment Station (2706 Shimotakaoka, Miki-cho) and Fisheries Experiment Station (75-5, Yashima Higashi-cho, Takamatsu City) will also be rebuilt at the current site.
The livestock experimental center will be rebuilt and consolidated into one building: the main building (completed in 1963, two-story reinforced concrete building, total area 296 square meters) and the experimental building ( completed in 1956, built of reinforced concrete with two floors, total 247 square meters). The Aquatic Experiment Station will rebuild two buildings, the main building (completed in 1970, two-story reinforced concrete building) and the aquaculture experimental house (completed in 1971, reinforced concrete construction one floor), with a total area of about 2,000 square meters. Basic design will begin in fiscal year 2024. It is said they want to include outsourcing costs in the initial budget proposal.
All three of these facilities were built more than 50 years ago and are deteriorating. Unable to expect any impact in extending the life of the building, the decision was made to proceed with drastic measures such as rebuilding rather than seismic retrofitting. Governor Toyohito Ikeda said at the regular plenary session of the prefectural council on November 27, “To prepare for large-scale disasters, we will gradually improve the basic design from the fiscal year next so that residents and employees of the province can safely use the three facilities and "We will ensure that the facilities are maintained going forward."
