KAI (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) will introduce an on-site PPA (power purchase agreement) model solar power generation facility at the Niigata Distribution Center in Nagaoka City, Niigata Prefecture. On March 17, the company announced that it had signed a contract with Urban Energy (Yokohama City), a PPA operator.

Urban Energy's on-site PPA solar power generation service "Zero Emi Plan On-Site Service" and virtually 100% renewable energy power supply plan "Zero Emi Plan" will be introduced. It will be fully operational from June.

A solar power generation facility with a panel output of 1293 kW and a power conditioner (PCS) output of 900 kW will be installed on the roof of the Niigata Distribution Center. Annual power generation is expected to be 1,110 MWh. The generated electricity will be purchased by KAI and will be used in-house at the center.

In addition, surplus power will be supplied from Urban Energy as off-site PPA power to two bases: the KAI Tokyo Head Office (K.A.I. Building) and the Fukuoka Branch in Fukuoka City. Urban Energy will be responsible for the planned value simultaneous work and imbalance fee burden associated with the off-site PPA.

With the service introduced this time, KAI will convert a total of three bases to CO2-free, 100% renewable energy bases, reducing CO2 emissions by 545 tons annually. KAI aims to reduce CO2 emissions by 50% by 2030 (compared to 2019).
