JR East will accelerate DX in the construction and maintenance of railway facilities. Upgraded digital twin software "TRANCITY" developed by the company and JR East Consultants. Liberaware (Chuo-ku, Chiba City, Representative Director and CEO Hiroki Min) will combine it with the new drone that has been launched to improve operational efficiency. With localized torrential rains occurring frequently, an environment is being put in place to quickly grasp the occurrence of landslides and other disasters.

TRANCITY was developed by three companies, CalTa (Minato-ku, Tokyo, Toru Takatsu, Representative Director and CEO), which was jointly funded by three companies including JR East, JR East Consulting, and Liberaware. Point cloud data is automatically generated on a map simply by uploading a video taken with a drone or smartphone. It eliminates the need to go to the site and create a form, but the conventional product could not save the measurement record.
The three companies upgraded TRANCITY based on the opinions of infrastructure projects including railways and the manufacturing industry. The new function uses a digital twin that reproduces the real world in virtual space, enabling measurement and recording of railway-related facilities. Point cloud data can also be generated from images captured by a 360-degree camera. A simulation function for walking in 3D space was also added. JR East Consulting and CalTa will start selling on July 1st.
The upgraded TRANCITY and Liberaware will use the new drone "IBIS 2" released on the 26th. You can post images taken with Ibis 2, which has a longer flight time than before, and quickly share information on the local situation. "It will be useful for improving the efficiency of infrastructure inspection, construction management, and disaster recovery work," says Takatsu. JR East aims to further DX the infrastructure industry.
