JERA has transferred part of its ownership in the 112MW Ishikari Bay New Port offshore wind farm in Hokkaido to a joint investment company formed by Hokkaido Electric Power and Tohoku Electric Power.

With the transfer completed on 30 September 2025, the project is now operated by JERA, Green Power Investment, Hokkaido Electric, and Tohoku Electric.

The wind farm, located at Ishikari Bay New Port, is equipped with 14 Siemens Gamesa 8MW turbines and a 180MWh battery storage system. It began commercial operations on 1 January 2024, supplying electricity to Hokkaido Electric Power Network under a 20-year agreement.

JERA stated that the project has been stably managed in partnership with Green Power Investment, with close engagement with the local communities of Ishikari City and Otaru City.

The company added that the entry of Hokkaido Electric and Tohoku Electric will further strengthen the project by leveraging their local ties and longstanding expertise in reliable power supply.

Together, JERA and its partners affirmed their commitment to regional development and to advancing Japan’s decarbonisation goals.
