Fujita Corporation announced on the 7th that it has signed a comprehensive partnership agreement with Ishigaki City, Okinawa Prefecture and has started full-scale demonstration tests to promote a decarbonization and resource recycling business that utilizes its own phosphorus adsorption carbon "Prime Carbon". did. Fujita will play a central role in collaborating with nine partner companies in the city to work on biomass power generation and carbon storage in farmland, aiming for commercialization in fiscal 2025.
This business uses woody biomass resources such as thinned wood to create renewable energy. At the same time, the biochar generated during power generation will be specially processed to produce prime carbon that has a phosphorus adsorption function. After that, phosphorus will be recovered from the sewage treatment plant and used as fertilizer or compost in the fields to tackle carbon storage in the farmland. In addition to achieving both decarbonization and resource recycling, we aim to build a comprehensive environmental business that leads to coral conservation.
We are also planning to work on establishing innovative technology that utilizes wood-derived carbon dioxide (CO2) exhaust gas emitted during power generation for the cultivation of microalgae and the cultivation of crops. Nine companies in the city, namely Ishigakijima SUN Farm, Sakishima Farm, Sakishima Maintenance, Maruo Construction, Miyagi Yoneya, Miyahira Kanko, Yaeyama Shokusan, Yaeyama Forestry Cooperative, and Euglena, will participate as business partners.
In the future, while confirming and verifying the demonstration results, we will call on companies and organizations interested in the business, and agricultural production corporations and organizations interested in decarbonized and resource-recycling fertilizers to cooperate with us. The trial will continue until March.
