EURUS ENERGY HD/EURUS NISHIME WF (YURIHONJO CITY, AKITA PREFECTURE) BEGINS CONSTRUCTION AT MAEDA CONSTRUCTION

Eurus Energy Holdings (HD, Minato-ku, Tokyo, President Tetsuya Suwabe) has begun replacement work at the Eurus Nishime Wind Farm in Yuryhonjo City, Akita Prefecture. The 15 wind turbines will be removed and replaced with seven wind turbines, one of the largest in Japan. The total cost of the project is approximately 12.5 billion yen and Maeda Construction is responsible for construction, including demolition. Demolition and new construction will proceed in parallel and commercial operations are expected to resume in February 2026.

The Eurus Nishime wind farm began commercial operations in November 2004. It consists of 15 Vestas wind turbines with a single capacity of 2,000 kilowatts. About 20 years have passed since it began operations, Eurus Energy HD planned to completely upgrade its facilities and cease commercial operations in March 2013.

The new device is manufactured by Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy and has a rotor diameter of approximately 130 meters and a unit power of 4,300 kilowatts. The maximum height reaches about 150 meters. Even after replacement, the total capacity of 30,000 kW remains the same. All electricity generated will be sold to the Tohoku Electric Power Network, providing electricity to about 22,000 ordinary households. The project is expected to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by approximately 31,000 tons per year.

Regarding the project, Shonai Bank and Hokuto Bank arranged project financing for Eurus Energy Nishime (Yurihonjo City, Akita Prefecture). A syndicated loan for a total amount of approximately 10.4 billion yen. The removal of the existing wind turbines, which began in April, will be completed by May 2024. Construction of the new windmill began on the 1st and now the demolition and new construction will be conducted simultaneously.
