The University of Tokyo and Mitsubishi Estate announced on the 24th that they had signed an industry-university co-creation agreement for research on urban development in anticipation of the post-corona era. In the "Honmaru area", which covers the University of Tokyo campus from Hongo to Otemachi, Marunouchi, and Yurakucho, we are developing initiatives for industry-academia collaboration and startup support. Consider how the city of the future should be.

Under the title of "Mitsubishi Estate University of Tokyo Lab", we will promote industry-academia collaboration for 10 years. We are promoting research on new urban development in anticipation of the post-corona era and smart city development using IT. The establishment of a donation course for human resource development is also being considered.

We will open an incubation facility for University of Tokyo students and researchers, and enhance the support system for startup companies. In December, as the first initiative after the collaboration, a lecture event by a professor at the University of Tokyo will be held at various locations in Marunouchi.

A signing ceremony was held on the 21st at the Hongo Campus. Teruo Fujii, President of the University of Tokyo, said, "Since the Meiji era, the Honmaru area has been a central place that supports the foundation of Japan as a modern nation. Based on the historical and cultural significance of the Honmaru area, we will promote research and educational activities that will lead to social change through innovation. We will develop together,” he commented. Junichi Yoshida, president of Mitsubishi Estate, said, "Through collaboration with the University of Tokyo and companies concentrated in the Honmaru area, we will support the exploration of the next-generation urban development, the creation of new industries, and efforts to solve social issues. By promoting it, we aim to create a prosperous future for Tokyo and Japan."
