Kanto Regional Development Bureau / Arakawa 2nd and 3rd control pond construction site open to the public, cutting-edge construction appeal making full use of ICT

You can see the current site and the rendering of the completion at the same time in AR.

The Kanto Regional Development Bureau released the site of the "Arakawa No. 2 and No. 3 Retention Pond" under construction in Saitama Prefecture to the news media on the 1st. Ground improvement work is underway at the site. The Arakawa Reservoir Construction Office, which is in charge of the project, opened the "Araike DX Experience Center" on site in July. An architectural rendering model of structures such as embankments and drainage gates manufactured using a 3D printer is exhibited. Introducing cutting-edge ICT construction that is being tackled on-site, such as installing a monitor that allows you to see the state of ground improvement work during construction in real time.
In order to enhance the flood control capacity of the Arakawa basin, the Kanto Development Bureau has developed a regulating reservoir with a total area of about 760 hectares and a total hydraulic control volume of about 51 million cubic meters on the upstream left bank of the Arakawa Daiichi Reservoir (Toda City, Saitama Prefecture). is doing. The business period is until 2030. The total project cost is expected to be about 167 billion yen.
In order to demonstrate the maintenance effect at an early stage, the construction was ordered in large lots. Each section is working to improve productivity through cutting-edge construction using ICT. Currently, 3 ground improvement work areas, 2 infrastructure maintenance works, 1 earth and sand improvement work, and 1 construction road construction are underway at the same time.
The ground improvement of the planned construction part of the surrounding bank that separates the main stream of the river from the regulating pond is at its peak. At the site divided into three construction zones, large three-point pile drivers with a maximum length of over 30 meters stand in a forest, which strongly impresses that the huge project is steadily progressing. A maximum of 11 pile drivers are in operation at the same time. Seven aircraft were in operation on the same day. Both are said to be able to be constructed with high accuracy using GPS (satellite positioning system).
The Araike DX Experience Center is located next to Niike Miharudai (Shimookubo, Sakura-ku, Saitama City), which overlooks the business area. It is a two-story building, and on the second floor you can see the construction in a panoramic view through the glass wall. A monitor is installed and used for business explanations for visitors.
On the 1st floor, a model of a regulating pond created with a 3D printer is displayed. You can see the state after completion by AR (Augmented Reality). On the monitor, you can see the construction status of the pile driver in front of you in real time. The contents of the exhibition will be changed according to the progress of the business in the future. In July, we started accepting visitors by appointment only, but we are currently canceling it due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection.
