CIVIL ENGINEERING WORKS FOR SHINAGAWA METRO/LINE 7 CONSTRUCTION AREA (MINATO-KU, TOKYO) TO KASHIMA JV

    Tokyo Metro announced on the 11th that it has selected Kashima-Teiken-Keikyu Joint Venture as the contractor for the "Shinagawa Line 7 Construction Area Civil Engineering Works" related to the expansion of Metro Line 7 ( Namboku Line) at a cost of 18.8 billion Yen (excluding taxes). Civil construction work will be carried out in the Shinagawa construction area, targeting the area "(tentative name) Shinagawa Station" (Minato-ku, Tokyo) where a new station will be built. Open competitive bidding (WTO-themed) was opened on 9 May and awarded on the same day.

    The construction site is Takanawa 4-chome. An open-cut tunnel with an excavation volume of 220,000 cubic meters will be constructed using approximately 70,000 cubic meters of concrete. Construction period is 101 months. The design is in charge of Pacific Consultants.

    The Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Tokyo Metro are planning to expand Namboku Line Line 7. The extension (tentative name) will be developed as ``Branch Line 7'' from Shinagawa Station to Hirokane-Takanawa Station (with Total length is about 2.8 km, tunnel section is about 2.5 km). Shinagawa Station and Hirokane-Takanawa Station will be built using cut-and-cover tunnels (Hirokane-Takanawa Station already exists), while the remaining sections will be built using shield tunnels. Shinagawa Station will be located on the third underground level just below National Highway 15 (Daiichi Keihin), passing in front of the current Takanawa Exit (West Exit) and covering an area of ​​approximately 10,100 square meters.

    Total construction costs for the Namboku Line extension are expected to be 131 billion yen, with the goal of bringing the line in by the mid-2030s. It is expected to improve access to Shinagawa Station and Haneda Airport, where the Chuo Shinkansen Line departs and arrives, and where multiple lines connect.

    Prior to the construction of the North-South Line expansion project, the first public competitive bidding (WTO qualified) was opened on December 28, 2021, for ``Zone Civil Engineering Works Shiragane Line 7 construction area''. The Konoike-Keio joint venture successfully bid for 7.761 billion yen (excluding taxes). This is an open tunnel construction project (excavation volume of 1.2 million cubic meters) in Shirakane construction area (Minato ward), construction period is 132 months.
