Tetsuo Nishi, the mayor of Kaminoseki-cho, Yamaguchi Prefecture, convened an extraordinary meeting on the 18th and announced that he would accept the feasibility study built by Chugoku Electric Power Co., Inc. proposed for a temporary storage facility for spent fuel from nuclear power plants. All 10 members of the town council, including the chairman, also expressed their views and 6 agreed. On top of that, Mayor Nishi once again stressed that he would accept the investigation. After receiving the consent of the mayor of Nishi City, Chugoku Electric Power Company started a document survey on the same day. Preparatory work for the field survey has also been carried out, and the plan is to begin geological surveys and exploratory drilling in the future.
