Tomoaki Kobayakawa, president of Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings (HD), held a press conference on the 23rd regarding the increase in regulated tariffs, stating, "It is not my intention to burden you, but I have come to a difficult decision." In order to reduce the burden on customers, the company indicated a policy of working to reduce power purchase charges by excluding outdated thermal power plants from contracts and expanding procurement of high-efficiency thermal power plants.
