Tokyo has developed a roadmap to expand the application of digital technology in infrastructure development. The latest technology will be applied in four phases: planning, design, construction, and maintenance. During the design phase, AI chatbots will be introduced and BIM/CIM will be used smoothly in the design process. During the construction phase, the scope of work that can be done using ICT will be expanded.

Future Vision (based on Tokyo Technology Council document)
This roadmap was presented at a technical conference held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Government on the 20th. By utilizing advanced technology at every stage, including design and construction, we will be able to meet the growing demand for infrastructure upgrades in the future. In order to facilitate the implementation of digital technology, the roadmap divides each stage into three steps. With technological innovation taking place rapidly, no annual target has been set to promote the project as much as possible.
In the planning phase, we will promote the use of 3D data. First, 3D data will be standardized for key structures, then expanded to cover all structures. Drones will be used for surveying. Initially, the drones will be operated manually, but will gradually switch to autonomous flight mode. We will also work to improve the accuracy of the acquired point cloud data.
AI will be used extensively in the design phase. The system will be introduced not only for chatbots but also for cost estimation purposes, aiming for automation. During the construction phase, a construction information sharing system will be used for all projects. The first remote presence technology will be applied in one construction phase and eventually a system will be established that can be used in all phases.
During the maintenance phase, inspections will be carried out using drones and other tools. After some testing and partial deployment for automation purposes, the system will be fully deployed. To quickly respond to deterioration of the structures, we will also build a system to automatically detect areas that need repair. We will first create the basic system and fully deploy it after some testing.
We have also developed a roadmap to promote work style reform. The Construction Career Enhancement System (CCUS) will review its direction after reviewing and verifying its usage status. The reduction of construction documents will be accelerated, while simplification and digitalization will be promoted. We will also develop a system to replace construction documents. We will continue to make appropriate design and construction changes to ensure the system operates during the two-day weekend.
