In October, East Japan Expressway Co., Ltd. will celebrate its 20th anniversary since its establishment in 2005. Under the mid-term management plan starting from fiscal 2021, the Tohoku branch will begin replacing floor slabs at 26 locations in fiscal 2025, which is the branch's core business. Including ongoing construction, a total of 94 bridges will be renovated within five years. We are focusing on our social mission of "providing comfortable and convenient expressways." Construction work will be steadily promoted to ensure the safety and security of rapidly aging expressways.
Regarding the "enhancement of network functions by improving and strengthening expressways and promoting four-lane expressways," one of the policies in the mid-term management plan, we will construct the Sendai/Rifu Shirakashidai North Road (Rifu Town, Miyagi Prefecture) to Tomiya JCT ( We will start the project to construct a four-lane section (Tomiya City) with a length of 6.6 km. Work is underway to upgrade the Yuda IC section of the Akita Expressway (Nishiwaga Town, Iwate Prefecture) to Yokote IC (Yokote City, Akita Prefecture) and the Namie IC section of the Joban Expressway (Namie Town) - Minamisoma IC (Minamisoma City) to four lanes. Fully expanded. Construction is currently announced for the section between Soma IC (Soma City, Fukushima Prefecture) and Shinchi IC (Shinchi Town). Auxiliary construction is underway on the Expressway Ban'etsu Expressway between Aizu Sakashita IC (Aizu Sakashita Town, Fukushima Prefecture) and Nishiaizu IC (Nishiaizu Town).
March marks the 10th anniversary of the full opening of the Joban Expressway. It has contributed to the reconstruction and revitalization of the area as a high-standard road in Hamadori, Fukushima Prefecture. It connects the Sendai area and the Tokyo metropolitan area with the Tohoku Expressway by a dual network, while contributing to securing the road network and promoting the area along the route. To celebrate the 10th anniversary, various events are planned to express gratitude to users and local residents.
