THE MINISTRY OF ECONOMY, TRADE AND INDUSTRY WILL HOLD A MEETING IN JANUARY NEXT YEAR TO CREATE A MARKET FOR DAC AND DEVELOP REGULATIONS

The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry has established a working group (WG) on the topic of DAC, a technology to capture carbon dioxide (CO2) from the atmosphere, and will begin specialized discussions in January next year. In the United States, the market is rapidly expanding as DAC-related investment and start-up activity progresses. We will consider the necessary rules, such as the actual amount of CO2 captured, as well as the development and establishment of measurement, reporting and verification (MRV) methods required for credit generation and will lead to the creation of markets.
