The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism will establish a system for evaluating green space quality in privately funded urban green space development and management projects. The idea is to establish specific assessment items and standards and ensure quality above a certain level. The plan is to build an operational system run by a third-party organization and start operating it next financial year. On the 25th, a meeting of experts was opened to develop standards. Going forward, we will conduct a detailed review while also taking into account the comments of committee members.
First meeting of “Expert Meeting on Evaluation Standards for Ensuring the Quality of Urban Green Space through Private Investment” (chaired by Shigeto Yanai, professor at Chiba University Graduate School) was held privately on the same day. The Secretariat presented the purpose and image of the system's establishment as well as the schedule for starting the system's operation.
