Protecting the electricity of Yakushima / Rokuei Densetsu, responsible for Kyushu power transmission and distribution facilities

    ◆Unique supply form, repeated innovations
There are various "unexplored areas" in Japan, but there is probably no more unexplored area than Yakushima in terms of the electric power industry. Despite being a relatively large remote island with a population of about 12,000, it has an extremely unique business model in which power is mainly supplied via private lines rather than the transmission and distribution networks of major electric power companies. However, even in such an unexplored area, Kyushu Electric Power Transmission and Distribution is sending electricity to some consumers. We visited the site and interviewed an electrical construction company that is involved in the maintenance of distribution lines for Kyushu transmission and distribution.
