“We are currently developing many utility scale projects, the largest being 300 MWp, but at the same time, we are in the process of evaluating more than 13,000 hectares of land, suitable for solar power plants,” said CCO. and co-founder Edmund Yen said in a statement Thursday.
Yen explained that the company wants to focus on developing microgrids and battery storage systems because the existing grid infrastructure in the country makes it difficult to connect large-scale projects.
Founded in December, athein is a joint venture between four Southeast Asian companies -- ATAD Steel Structure Corp, Hexagon Holdings, Inpos Ltd and Invenic Inc. The IPP platform has set a target of raising USD 1 billion (EUR 915 million) over the next three years to finance wind and solar power systems in Australia, India, the Philippines and Vietnam.
