AEON MALL EXPANDS SELF-TRANSPORTING SOLAR POWER, FROM A TOTAL CAPACITY OF 120MW TO 50 FACILITIES

On August 23, AEON MALL, companies under Mizuho Group (Mizuho Bank, Mizuho Securities, Mizuho Lease), Eco Style (Osaka City) and Sai no Sakaki (Ome City, Tokyo) launched the low voltage distributed solar self-consignment system power announced that a basic agreement has been reached on renewable energy procurement through power generation facilities.

This project is the second project of "Machi no AEON MALL Power Plant", an effort to purchase electricity for AEON MALL stores using a self-consignment system. Starting from the fall of 2023, about 650 commercial low-voltage photovoltaic power plants operating nationwide, with a total capacity of approximately 55 MW, will be supplied to many AEON MALL stores.

Along with the locations operated in the first phase, a total of about 1,390 locations, about 120 MW of low voltage solar power generated from commercial solar power will be provided to a total of 50 AEON MALL stores. . In the second phase, 19 new stores were added from the 31 stores in the first round. The annual electricity output is equivalent to about 30,000 ordinary households and 7 to 8 AEON MALL stores.

Also, this time, we plan to use shared solar energy (agricultural solar power plants) for part of the solar power output. Under the solar panels, sakaki trees that are used in Shinto rituals such as offerings on Shinto shrines and altars in Japan are planted. The company said it will help popularize local sakaki in the domestic sakaki market, which is dominated by foreign products.

AEON MALL will be positioned as an electricity producer and consumer, and companies under the Mizuho Group will provide financial arrangements, advice on planning and provide risk money. Ecostyle will provide EPC (engineering, procurement, construction) and O&M (operation and maintenance) services for the power plant, as well as demo and operational support for the self-consignment, while Sai no Sakaki will be in charge of growing sakaki.
