The Sosa Ohisama Power Plant (Sosa City, Chiba Prefecture), a special purpose company (SPC) invested by Citizen Energy Chiba (Sosa City, Chiba Prefecture), is the largest solar sharing (agricultural solar power plant) in Japan. We developed a power plant and started selling electricity from April 1.
A solar power generation facility with a solar panel output of 2.702 MW and a grid output of 1.92 MW was installed on a site area of 64,500 m2, such as abandoned farmland in Sosa City. Annual power generation is expected to be 3,378,500 kWh. The generated electricity will be sold to TEPCO Power Grid based on the feed-in tariff (FIT) system. The purchase price is 18 yen/kWh.
The solar panel is made by Energy Gap (Chuo-ku, Tokyo), and the power conditioner (PCS) is made by Sungrow, China. A double-sided solar panel is used, and the light shielding rate is less than 35%. Soybeans and barley are grown under solar panels. In addition to reducing CO2 emissions from solar power generation, organic farming is expected to improve the environment (CO2 absorption effect).
The companies that invested in SPC are Citizen Energy Chiba, Sosa Ohisamahata, a farmland owner and certified farmer (Sosa City, Chiba Prefecture), ENEOS Innovation Partners LLC (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo), SBI Energy (Minato-ku, Tokyo), Five companies in Agritree (Nakagawa City, Fukuoka Prefecture).
In addition, we received a loan from Chiba Bank under the "Chibagin SDGs Leaders Loan (Green Loan Type)". The loan amount is 200 million yen. All of the funds raised have been used to fund the development of the power plant.
In addition, with the completion of the power plant, a commemorative event "Solar Sharing Town 'Sosa' Earth Day Party" will be held on April 22nd. Talk sessions by guest speakers, tree planting, networking events with local residents, etc. will be held, and food catering using local vegetables will also be provided.
