Viscofan partners with Nordex Electrolyzers to decarbonise industrial processes
ordex Electrolyzers , in consortium with Viscofan ,AIN and URAPHEX , has launched a project that promotes the decarbonisation of industrial processes through electrolysers that generate green hydrogen. Thus, they have announced that they will carry out this initiative consisting of the installation of the largest electrolyser designed, manufactured and assembled entirely in Spain by Nordex, at Viscofan’s facilities in Cáseda (Navarra) .
Viscofan has explained that the project
Development of Advanced Technologies and asset management tools for the Efficient Production of Green Hydrogen for use in the decarbonisation of Industrial Processes,
known by its acronym H2OP , has been launched with the aim of promoting the efficient production of green hydrogen and its application in the decarbonisation of industrial processes .
This ambitious project seeks to position the Navarrese industry at the forefront of the energy transition.
In this sense, the partners will “pool their knowledge and resources” to develop advanced technologies and asset management tools that optimize the production of green hydrogen. The 500 kW prototype can produce more than 10 kg/h of hydrogen that will serve to replace natural gas in the generation of steam in Viscofan’s already adapted facilities in Cáseda , contributing to the decarbonization process of this plant.
The H2OP project is part of the 2024-2027 call for aid for the implementation of strategic R&D projects of the Department of Industry and Ecological and Digital Business Transition of the Government of Navarra . The project is part of the AERO VIII Challenge 2 of this call focused on the green energy industry, and seeks to promote innovation and technological development in this crucial sector for sustainability.

The H2OP project has received a total grant of 838,428.98 euros , financed by the Government of Navarra and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
