Aomori Prefecture will accelerate the review process for the construction and opening of a new hospital combining the Prefectural Central Hospital and Aomori City Hospital. In personnel changes that will take effect from April 1, responsibility for preparing for the opening of the new hospital will be transferred from the Hospital Bureau to the General Policy Division, and a new "Integrated New Hospital Opening Preparation Office" will be established. We are also considering expanding the number of technical staff involved in facility development and will establish a system so that the entire agency can work together on this issue. The basic design of the new hospital facility is scheduled to be put into use in fiscal 2025, and it is planned to announce a public call for proposals immediately after the preparation office is established.
Governor Soichiro Miyashita announced this information at a press conference on the 17th. Transferred from the Regional Health Office of the Hospital Administration Department to the Governor's Office. Tadahito Takahashi, Director of the Regional Health Office, will take over as Director of the Preparation Office.
The basic plan, scheduled to be drawn up within the fiscal year, has selected the area around Hamada Central Park and the prefectural ice rink as potential construction sites. The area covers a total area of 88,500 square meters, including the indoor campus of Aomori City. On the 17th, a public hearing was held in cooperation with Aomori City to hear the opinions of residents living in the area around the proposed site. The prefectural government has expressed its intention to continue dialogue with residents by providing a forum for exchanging opinions even after the basic plan has been drawn up.
The building includes a hospital building (9 floors, total area of approximately 72,600 square meters), an emergency medical facility (2 floors, total area of approximately 1,000 square meters), a hospital kindergarten (1 floor, total area of approximately 600 square meters), a multi-storey guest parking lot (4 floors, total area of approximately 15,600 square meters, approximately 700 cars), and a multi-storey employee parking lot (6 floors, total area of approximately 23,400 square meters, approximately 950 cars). The project cost is estimated at 88.5 billion to 96.6 billion yen. The schedule will be reviewed during the design stage to accommodate the rising costs of equipment and materials. Detailed design will be carried out in fiscal 2015, and construction will take place over four years from fiscal 2016 to 2019.
The new hospital will have 39 departments and is expected to have 757 beds. As a facility that contributes to improving medical standards across the province, we aim to provide safe and high-quality medical services.
