Aichi Prefecture held the first meeting of the Aichi Carbon Recycling Promotion Council in Nagoya on the 18th (Photo). In order to commercialize the "regional carbon recycling project using CO2 concrete fixation technology" proposed by three private companies including the Taisei Group, we will develop a plan for the collection and recovery of waste containing calcium (Ca) and carbon dioxide (CO2). . At the first meeting, the plan for this year's initiatives was confirmed. In order to expand the number of council members, it was decided that in October, applications will also be invited from specific users such as Ca production companies, CO2 production companies, and construction companies.

At the outset, Yasunobu Sugimoto, Director of Global Warming Countermeasures, Environment Agency, stated, "To achieve carbon neutrality (CN), we need fundamental innovation in addition to conventional efforts," and announced that the technology promoted and selected by the Aichi CN Strategy Council will be deployed. He explained that he had established a council for this purpose. The company said that it will conduct discussions with relevant parties to build a carbon recycling supply chain.
The proposal by Taisei Corporation, Aisin, and Toho Gas is to react CO2 emitted from plants using city gas with calcium components extracted from waste to turn it into calcium carbonate, which will be effectively used as a raw material for concrete. Aiming to realize the society in the next few years, the council will develop a plan for collecting and recovering Ca and CO2 waste, conduct feasibility studies and assessments, and develop a vision to share the project plans and goals.
In order to expand the number of council members, we will openly recruit Ca emission companies, CO2 emission companies, and specific users. Participation is also requested from waste treatment companies, transportation companies, and local governments that need to use concrete. The second council meeting will be held at the end of this year. This event will be held approximately twice a year from 2025 onwards, with the aim of rapidly deploying a carbon recycling supply chain in Aichi, Gifu, Mie, and Shizuoka prefectures. The current
council members as of the 18th are as follows.
