Taisei Corporation has developed a technology for connecting precast and prestressed concrete (PCaPC) panels in the width direction, which can be replaced under the condition of a limited single lane. The “bar end joint” construction method, which rationalizes the connection of the floor slab in the direction of vehicle travel (bridge axis), is also applied to the connection of the floor slab in the width direction (perpendicular to the bridge axis). Compared with conventional construction methods, this method improves workability and shortens the construction period, allowing the replacement of the floor slab while minimizing the impact on traffic. It will be exhibited at the ``Highway Techno Fair 2024'' held at Tokyo Big Sight in Koto Ward, Tokyo on the 26th and 27th.

The new technology uses end bars, which eliminates the need for reinforcement in the panel joints and reduces the width between panels (fill width) to less than 1/4 of the conventional method. The amount of filler required can be reduced and the filler can be filled quickly by using a small filler machine and actuator.

PCa floor panels are easy to install, greatly improving the workability on site and shortening the construction period. In the conventional construction method, prestress (compressive force) is introduced into the joints in the width direction to connect the panels, but there are workability problems, such as the need for reinforcement at the joints, making it difficult to shorten the construction period. . used to be.
The high-strength fiber-reinforced mortar filling the joints between the floor panels can withstand tensile forces, thus ensuring durability without prestressing the joints. Demonstration tests have confirmed that the joints of the floor panels have fatigue strength equivalent to the design life of 100 years. It ensures a high level of safety, meeting the required performance.
It has been introduced in the work of replacing floor slabs. In the coming time, the company hopes to be able to proactively propose and apply new technology to the work of replacing RC floors for road bridges across the country. Aiming to further improve productivity in the work of replacing floor slabs.
