The Bessodani Bridge on the Tokushima Expressway in Awa City, Tokushima Prefecture, constructed by Sumitomo Mitsui Construction, received the Jury's Special Award from the International Federation for Concrete Concrete (fib). "Ultra-high durability bridge" that does not use corroding members such as reinforcing bars is applied. It was highly evaluated for its uniqueness as the world's first highway bridge. He received an award at the fib congress held in Oslo, the capital of Norway, on June 15.
Betsunoya Bridge is located between Donari IC and Wakimachi IC, and was completed in December 2020. The ultra-high durability bridge was jointly developed with West Nippon Expressway Company. The possibility of corrosion deterioration was eliminated by using high-strength fiber reinforced concrete, etc., without using reinforcing bars or PC steel materials. The durability of the structure can be improved and the load of future maintenance can be reduced.
The fib congress is held once every four years, and the "Exclusional Recognition prize" is awarded to the structure that recognizes its uniqueness.
