Suiso Japan Co., Ltd. Proudly Supports Breakthrough Hydrogen-Based Nerve Regeneration Study

On October 1, 2025, Molecular Medicine Reports (Spandidos Publications) published the study “Regulation of nuclear transport of the transcriptional factor REST improves axon regeneration in peripheral nerves” led by Japanese researcher Takamaru Suzuki and colleagues.

The research highlights the therapeutic potential of hydrogen (H₂) in regulating the transcription factor REST, whose elevated expression with age contributes to reduced axon regeneration in peripheral nerves. Using aged mouse models and REST-overexpressed (REST-OE) cell lines, the study demonstrated that hydrogen administration decreased REST nuclear localization while increasing GAP43, a key marker of axon regeneration.

Suiso Japan Co., Ltd. proudly participated in this project by supplying its Suilive hydrogen equipment, ensuring stable and high-purity hydrogen delivery for the experimental setup. This contribution provided critical technical support, enabling researchers to validate hydrogen’s neuroprotective and regenerative effects.

The findings suggest that regulating REST nuclear transport with hydrogen may counteract age-related decline in nerve regeneration, paving the way for innovative approaches in regenerative medicine. Suiso Japan’s involvement underscores its commitment to advancing hydrogen applications not only in clean energy but also in healthcare and medical research.
