In October 2022, the number of high-voltage contracts for new power companies fell below 200,000. This is the first time in about 5 years since September 2017 that this number has dropped below 200,000 units. The market share of new power companies, which continues to expand amid low prices in the wholesale electricity market, has decreased significantly over the past year. Many new utility companies are also cutting off customers and it may take some time for the number of high voltage contracts to return to an upward trend.
According to the October 2022 Power Purchase Report, issued by the Electricity and Syngas Market Supervision Commission, the number of high-voltage contract units in the retail sector of the previous power corporations was 606,181 units. and the number of high voltage contract units for new power companies is 190,000, which is 5247 mouths. The proportion of new electricity based on the number of contracted units is 24.4%. The number of contracts has continued to decline for 13 consecutive months since October 2021
