REVACS (Nishinomiya City, Hyogo Prefecture), which collects, transports, and intermediately processes industrial waste, constructed the Nishinomiya Biogas Power Plant, a biogas power generation facility that accepts food-related industrial waste and ferments it with methane. A completion ceremony was held on May 19. It is said to be the first commercial biogas power generation facility in the suburbs of the Hanshin area.

Adopting a medium-temperature wet methane fermentation method, it is equipped with a methane fermentation tank with a capacity of 2990 m3, a secondary fermentation tank with a capacity of 954 m3, and a gas generator with a maximum capacity of 720 kW (360 kW x 2 units). Trial operation will start in February, and when it goes into full-scale operation, it will process 14,000 tons of industrial waste annually and is expected to generate approximately 3,400 MWh of electricity annually.

EPC (engineering, procurement, construction) services were handled by Shin Energy (Kobe City). The generated electricity will be sold to Kansai Electric Power Transmission and Distribution based on the feed-in tariff (FIT) system, and will be used as locally-derived electricity. The purchase price is 39 yen/kWh. In addition, the residue (digestive fluid) after methane fermentation is dehydrated and recycled as a raw material for compost.

In conjunction with the operation of the facility, we obtained a permit for the industrial waste disposal business on January 10. Treatment methods include methane fermentation and crushing (contained beverage product waste and container muddy food waste). The items are sludge, waste oil, waste acid, waste alkali, animal and plant residue. Maximum processing capacity is 67.82 tons per day (24 hours).
