The Japan Photovoltaic Energy Association (JPEA) held a New Year's party at a hotel in Tokyo on January 19th. Representative Director Goro Yamaguchi (Kyocera Chairman and Representative Director) gave his opening remarks, renewing the mission imposed on solar power generation in the face of the chaotic energy situation, and determined to do everything in his power to solve the mountain of problems. showed that.

Representative Director Yamaguchi
Summary of greeting
As you all know, last fiscal year, the global situation began to accelerate decarbonization, aiming to keep the temperature rise below 1.5°C. Just around that time, Russia's invasion of Ukraine broke out, and the energy situation, including global warming countermeasures, fell into a chaotic situation where the future was unpredictable. We fear that the problems of securing and supplying LNG and crude oil will continue to have a major impact on the economies and lives of countries around the world.
In addition, there are concerns about a global economic recession due to the reaction to policy interest rate hikes in the United States and Europe. It was a big blow for us.

Under these circumstances, the necessity of strengthening business discipline and coexisting with local communities to expand the introduction of renewable energy is being discussed. How it should be was considered.
Furthermore, at the end of the year, a roadmap for the next 10 years was presented as a basic policy for realizing green transformation. Among them, support for the introduction of storage batteries as a power to adjust renewable energy, early social implementation of next-generation perovskite solar cells, utilization of nuclear power, realization and execution of growth-oriented carbon pricing concept, etc. have been included. I think it's fresh in my memory.
As global trends become extremely chaotic, energy measures that take geopolitical risks into account are urgently needed, and the photovoltaic power generation industry, which plays a role in making renewable energy the main power source, feels a greater responsibility. I'm in the middle of the day.
In the summer of last year, the JPEA announced voluntary action principles and declarations of intent by power generation companies, aiming for the sound spread of solar power generation based on coexistence and co-creation with local communities. There are still many issues that need to be addressed in order to achieve the ideal state, including dispelling the negative image, adjusting the ability to adjust, and stabilizing supply.
Until now, the JPEA has elected the secretary general from the representative director company, but as the activities of the JPEA have diversified and expanded, we have placed importance on continuity, and have appointed a full-time secretary general. We changed the system. Along with this, Mr. Takeaki Masukawa will be appointed as the secretary general from January, and we will work to strengthen our ability to execute and communicate under the new system. On top of that, we would like to widely appeal the merits of solar power generation and the significance of expanding its introduction, including through the media.
We will do our best to make this year a turning point toward the JPEA vision of “Introduction of 125 GW in 2030”. We ask for your continued support and cooperation.
