The Kamiishizu Toki Hydroelectric Power Station (Kamiishizu Toki, Ogaki City), which was abolished by Ibiden's machinery and equipment subsidiary, will be rebuilt. Power generation was stopped in 1976, but now it will be taken over free of charge and will be completely renovated. The groundbreaking ceremony was held on the 22nd. The generated power will be sold as renewable energy to the Chubu Electric Power Grid of the power transmission and distribution company through the feed-in tariff (FIT).

IBIDEN Engineering will spend about 600 million yen to renovate the building and generator, and is scheduled to be completed in April 2012.
The Kamiishizu Toki Hydroelectric Power Station was built in 1921 with the investment of local residents, and was sold to a private company in 1937 as a power source for lime mining in Mie Prefecture. In 1976, lime mining was stopped and the power plant was abolished, but the facilities remained as they were. The IBIDEN Group has four hydroelectric power plants, which are also its founding business, in Gifu prefecture and elsewhere. Utilizing our know-how, we handle everything from repair design, construction, and maintenance management in-house.

The annual power generation is expected to be about 1.2 million kilowatt hours, which will lead to the reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2). After completion, the policy is to have local residents and children use it as a place for environmental education through tours.
