Toyo Seat (Kaita Town, Hiroshima Prefecture), Choshu Sangyo (Sanyo Onoda City, Yamaguchi Prefecture), Chugoku Electric Power Co., and Mazda announced on March 27 that they had signed an off-site power purchase agreement (PPA) for solar power generation. bottom.
Choshu Sangyo will become a power generation company, install new solar power generation facilities on unused land owned by the company and Mazda, and sell the generated power to Chugoku Electric Power. Chugoku Electric Power will supply renewable energy power to Toyo Seat and Mazda.
Installed 2,448 920 kW solar panels at one location in Higashi-Hiroshima City owned by Mazda. 8882 3.98MW solar panels will be installed at 43 locations in Okayama, Hiroshima and Yamaguchi prefectures owned by Choshu Sangyo. A total of 4.9 MW of solar power will be supplied to 44 locations.
Starting in April, renewable energy will be supplied to Toyo Seat and Mazda's factories and offices. It is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by approximately 2,610 tons per year. The supply period is until March 2049.
The off-site PPA model, in which multiple consumers cooperate, is said to be the first initiative in the Chugoku region. Adopted by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry for FY2022 "Subsidy for promoting the introduction of solar power generation led by consumers".
