By using aluminum, the pipes are lighter, the number of pipes is reduced, and the construction method is simpler than conventional construction methods. It improves the starting rate by about 20%, greatly reduces the material burden on technicians and shortens working time. This will be the first new formwork construction method in about 70 years, as there has been no breakthrough technological innovation since the 1950s, when traditional construction methods became popular.

This construction method includes aluminum pipes, foam ties and pipe joints. The new aluminum tube is significantly lighter than conventionally manufactured steel tubes. Although the number of tubes used was halved from a set of two in the conventional construction method to one, greater durability was achieved. The new square fastener allows the aluminum tube to rest on the bottom bolt, eliminating the need to support the tube with one hand during assembly and disassembly, allowing stable and safe construction with both hands.
Pipe joints connecting aluminum pipes are lightweight, easy and quick to install as they can be installed easily by simply wrapping and fitting them together. Reduces the physical burden on technicians. Traffic safety has also been improved. By reducing the weight of the material, carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from transportation are halved. Aluminum has a high recycling rate, reducing industrial waste and contributing to reducing environmental impact.
As of the end of May, Kajima has introduced new construction methods to 12 construction sites nationwide. At a construction site in Tokyo, the total weight of unloaded pipes was reduced by about 56% compared to conventional construction methods, and progress was improved by about 20%. The company will widely deploy new construction methods in civil and industrial construction projects. The company has submitted an application to the New Technology Information System (NETIS) of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism for application in civil engineering works. Furthermore, the sale of parts through a joint development company will also begin in earnest.
