◆ LNG, 1.8 million kilowatts / Approximately 40% improvement in power generation efficiency

Kansai Electric Power announced on the 20th that it has begun considering replacement at the Nanko Power Station (LNG, total output of 1.8 million kilowatts). The conventional steam power generation system will be upgraded to the latest combined cycle power generation system, increasing power generation efficiency by about 40% from the current level of about 44% to about 63%. The carbon dioxide (CO2) emission coefficient of the power plant is expected to be reduced by about 30%. The plan for the start of operation is FY2029. As part of the business feasibility evaluation, we will consider using a “long-term decarbonized power supply auction.”
Based on the Environmental Impact Assessment Law (Environmental Assessment Law), we submitted the environmental impact statement at the planning stage to the Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry on the 20th. We asked the governor of Osaka Prefecture for his opinion. A statement of consideration is the first step in the environmental assessment process. From 23rd to April 21st, it will be announced on the company's website and related administrative agencies.
