JERA and Sekisui Chemical demonstrate film-type perovskite solar cell
Film-type perovskite solar cells installed on the premises of the Yokosuka Thermal Power Station
JERA announced on the 27th that jointly with Sekisui Chemical Co., Ltd., it has started a demonstration experiment to install film-type perovskite solar cells in a thermal power plant from the 24th. This is the first demonstration experiment in Japan of film-type perovskite solar cells for thermal power plants. The company aims to install the system on a large scale after fiscal 2025 through verification of power generation efficiency, resistance to salt damage, installation methods, and compliance with laws and regulations.
The perovskite type is said to be the favorite for next-generation solar cells, and while it is highly efficient, it is lightweight and can be bent. JERA envisions installation on the walls of buildings within the premises of power plants and roofs where weight is limited.
