    French Green Hydrogen Company Plans $500 Million Investment in Vietnam

    HDF Energy, a French green hydrogen infrastructure company, is planning to invest $500 million in potential energy and transportation projects in Vietnam.

    The information was shared by Mr. Trần Khánh Việt Dũng, Director of HDF Energy in Vietnam, during a meeting with Ho Chi Minh City Vice Chairman Bùi Xuân Cường on the afternoon of 20 November. Established in 2012 and with a representative office in Hanoi since 2022, HDF Energy specializes in developing low-to-zero-emission hydrogen-based power generation projects.

    In Vietnam, the company has partnered with ministries and state-owned energy corporations in the fields of renewable power, transportation, maritime, and petrochemical sectors. Mr. Dũng stated that HDF Energy plans to invest $500 million in potential projects in the near future.

    Specifically in Ho Chi Minh City, HDF Energy proposed developing a green hydrogen water-bus route on the Saigon River, cooperating on a green port project in Cần Giờ, supplying green energy to the Côn Đảo Special Economic Zone, and researching and developing a hydrogen-powered urban railway line.

    Vice Chairman Bùi Xuân Cường expressed support for HDF Energy’s efforts to explore investment in Ho Chi Minh City in the areas of green transportation, industry, and environment. The city pledged to facilitate and coordinate with HDF Energy in implementing these projects.

    Headquartered in France, HDF Energy also has offices in Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, and the Asia-Pacific region, employing approximately 150 hydrogen specialists from over 35 countries. The company was listed on Euronext Paris in 2021.

    HDF Energy is developing a project portfolio worth more than €3 billion, focusing on large-scale hydrogen infrastructure and hydrogen fuel cell technologies, advancing efforts to reduce emissions in the energy, maritime, and railway sectors.
