The Japan Society of Civil Engineers (Chairman Tamon Ueda) announced the 2022 Japan Society of Civil Engineers Award on the 15th. Out of 232 applications, a total of 112 were selected in 20 categories, including achievement awards and technology awards. Mr. Otsu devoted himself to clarifying the crack generation mechanism and destruction process of concrete. Mr. Kono worked on research and standardization of concrete. Dr. Kitamura has conducted highly original research in the field of geotechnical engineering from the perspective of probability and statistics.
For more than 45 years, Mr. Shibayama has devoted himself to research to elucidate the mechanisms of disasters in coastal areas, such as tsunamis and storm surges. Mr. Shiraki has been researching the systematization of reliability design methods for structures. Mr. Taniguchi led the full-scale introduction of smart ICs at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism.
Mr. Nakai demonstrated high leadership and execution ability in the development of railway facilities. At the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, Mr. Hayashida led traffic administration, mainly in the field of ports. Mr. Fukute has contributed to the development of pavement technology suitable for airports with soft ground and the creation of design standards.
Dr. Michioku has developed original and highly complete research on the issues of reservoir management. Mr. Mutsuyoshi has made achievements in many fields such as earthquake resistance of concrete structures. Mr. Yasuda laid the foundation for the design and countermeasures against liquefaction of civil engineering structures. Yokota built and systematically developed a framework for infrastructure lifecycle management.
