ESB AND ØRSTED JOIN 5 GW OFFSHORE WIND, GREEN HYDROGEN PARTNERSHIP IN IRELAND; BIDDING PLAN REVEALED IN NEXT IRISH AUCTION

    ESB and Ørsted have signed an agreement to jointly develop a portfolio of up to 5 GW of additional offshore wind and green hydrogen projects in Ireland, the first of these offshore wind projects. is expected to compete in Ireland's next auction, ORESS 2.1. The agreement also marks Orsted's entry into the Irish offshore wind market.

    According to the companies, this is the most ambitious partnership in Ireland to date and aims to help deliver on the Irish government's goal of installing 7 GW of offshore wind by 2030.

    Irish utility and energy company ESB has more than 5 GW of offshore wind capacity being developed around the coast of Ireland across five projects: Sea Stacks Offshore Wind, Helvick Offshore Wind, LochGarman Offshore Wind, Offshore Wind Moneypoint and the Celtic Offshore Wind.

    These projects were previously developed within the framework of ESB's partnership with Equinor, the Norwegian company which has decided to withdraw in 2021.
