    The Gifusan Prefectural No. 1 Tunnel, which is the longest in the western section of the Tokai Kanjo Expressway, is a mountain tunnel with a length of 4,931 meters. The work began in June 2018, and was divided into a 2,330-meter long east section (Nishifukase, Yamagata City) and a 2,601-meter long west section (Shirotaji, Gifu City), and excavation was carried out from both ends. The section between Yamagata IC and Ono-Kobe IC, including the tunnel, is scheduled to open in 2023.
