As the head of an organization that brings together people from various industries around the ocean, he focuses on creating and promoting sustainable marine industries such as offshore wind power generation. In order to connect the results of a variety of survey and research activities with concrete projects and social implementation, he will strengthen cooperation with related organizations and organizations such as the Japan Reclamation Dredging Association (Reclamation Dredging Association), of which he is the president. and will address policy issues. We are actively developing our proposals. We will strive to maximize the social value of networks within and outside our members, such as by strengthening our organizational and communication capabilities.

Mr. Takuzo Shimizu
--What are your expectations when you are appointed?
“Since the establishment of our predecessor, the Marine Industry Research Association, in 1969, we have been involved in various surveys and research in the marine field. In 1970, it became a consolidated association, and in 2012, it became a general consolidated association. Currently, the relevant ministries and agencies include: the Cabinet Office, the Secretariat for Ocean Policy Promotion, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism. In 2021, it will be renamed to its current name and will focus more on offshore wind energy and blue carbon, marine businesses such as undersea resource development are attracting social attention and importance. The existence of our association is increasing.'' `
`There is great value in having members from different sectors come together and work together, which is difficult to achieve in a single industry such as construction.'' To spread the use of floating offshore wind power generation, many parties are involved in the production and mooring of floating hulls, the installation of wind turbines on floating hulls, and the development of undersea DC power grids. The offshore working base proposed by the Dredging Association requires a worldwide effort. The entire supply chain involved in offshore wind power construction In order to facilitate business operations in the economic zone, we look forward to strengthening cooperation with relevant organizations and agencies through policy proposals, etc.''
-- Ensuring and training human resources is very important. also important for promoting industry.
The 'Offshore Wind Human Resources Development Promotion Council', with our association acting as the secretariat, was established in June. The promoters are nine parties developing groundbreaking projects in general marine areas, and about 20 members have expressed their intention to join. The association's aim is to increase youth interest and secure human resources for related industries by providing educational materials on offshore wind energy and sending lecturers to educational institutions such as technical colleges. Regarding 'cooperation in marine development for fisheries', we want to contribute to the development of the regional fisheries industry and other fields.''
- Prospects for new activities.
``We have a long list of surveys and research projects and we will work with our members to realise a range of results. We want to compile policy recommendations for the 5th Basic Ocean Plan, which will be developed by the government in 2028.'' We will also focus on supporting a hydrogen society, including the development and operation of infrastructure that contributes to the promotion of the maritime industry as well as the production, storage and use of green hydrogen through offshore wind power generation. We will also expand our organisation and increase information dissemination.
(Takuzou Shimizu) Graduated from the University of Tokyo in 1983 and joined Pentayo Construction.
