The Tokyo Metropolitan Government will begin work on rebuilding the Olympic Memorial Residence in Yoyogi Park (Shibuya Ward) in January 2025. The new memorial dormitory will be about 120 square meters in size, similar to the existing dormitory. Currently, residents are not allowed to enter the building, but after the reconstruction, there will be a space for people to come inside and relax. The garden path and plaza around the memorial dormitory will also be renovated to create an area where visitors can enjoy themselves.

Current Olympic Memorial Lodge (from press release material)
The memorial dormitory was built more than 70 years ago and is in disrepair both inside and out. The new building will be constructed of wood and will inherit the current exterior design. There are plans to include a cafeteria inside.
Lighting will be installed on the garden paths leading to the memorial dormitory. The nearby Migenen has also been renovated. The park will be transformed into a square space that makes use of the existing memorial trees and includes benches for visitors to relax.
Construction will begin with the reconstruction of the memorial and then expand to the surrounding area. It is expected to be ready for use in March 2026.
This construction work is part of the "Tokyo Metropolitan Park Refreshment Project". Parks will be renovated to make it easier for people to enjoy. The target areas include about 10 locations, including Yoyogi Park and Koganei Park (Koganei City), and the campaign will last for 10 years. Areas such as entrances and gardens will be renovated.
